Better than starting the day with a cuppa joe

This morning brings yet another day of good news.  Last night at about 2am, Tony woke up and was the most lucid he has been.  His personality was showing through very strongly and he was asking lots of questions about why he was in the hospital.  We talked for about an hour and a half and then I finally convinced him to get some sleep- selfishly I suppose, because I was pooped!
This morning the improvement continued and he is currently sitting in a chair beside the bed- eyeing my coffee hungrily and tinkering with my cell phone!  He is off the oxygen and now only has an IV line and a couple of leads monitoring his heart rate.  The speech therapist will be doing a swallow test shortly and then he’ll be clear to eat and drink- which he is anxious to do.
For those of you who had been hoping to visit- I am sure he would enjoy the company now.  He is already to leave the hospital, which having done 21 days of hospital time myself, I can more than relate to.
I don’t know what his time horizon is yet for getting out of the hospital, but I’d guess it will be about another week or so.  Obviously, we’ll be playing it by ear based on both his physical improvement and how much clarity he continue to regain.
Thanks again for all the well wishes.  All those good thoughts combined with Tony’s amazing strength and the incredible symphony of medical science and technology have worked together to create an amazing recovery.
It remains a journey but we are really walking now!
